1) The very popular tagline for this movie is, "Love means never having to say you're sorry." Here's your chance to rewrite it. "Love means _____________________." Love means saying sorry even when you think you did nothing wrong. 2) The movie was famous for a montage of the lovers frolicking in the snow. Do you enjoy sledding, skating, skiing, snowball fights, snowmen, etc.? Or do you just want spring to hurry up and get here? I love winterfun....

No way I could keep up with all the expectations of others. There were so many appointments in my work agenda and in my private agenda, that I knew on monday that I couldn't do what needed to be done. Take for instance the mistake of the new secretary, who planned an appointment from 10 to 11 at one location and from 11 to 12 at another location, meaning: at the other side of town. That usually takes about half an hour to go from one location to the other, so it's only logic to think it can't be done in one or two minutes. Then an aunt suddenly...

Monday, good morning dear bloggers. Laane asked: Did you ever take part in Carnival? Yes. I like Carnaval, as we call it here. My parents took me to see the parade every year. They dressed me up, like their other kids and took photos. At school Carnaval was celebrated each year at friday afternoon. It was fun to dance and jump, and sing for the prince. When I was 10 I was trained to dance in official dress at the carnaval festivities for...

1) This song is a plea for a second chance. Are you good at forgiving/forgetting? I try, because I'm not without fault. But it's more difficult to forget than to forgive. 2) Justin asks his girl to "forget this." What have you done/said recently that you wish could just be forgotten? Something unimportant. I was asked to come and celebrate Carnaval and I declined. Right now I wish a bit that I had gone with them to have a party.... 3) Mr....
Here in The Netherlands we've got a person who deals with complaints about actions of the government and the governmental organisations that can't be solved by those organisations. He's called the ombudsman. Ofcourse he's assisted by a large group of people. A special person within this organisation is the man who deals with all facets to do with children. He's called the Kinderombudsman. He controls if the governmental organisations, education, childcare, healthcare and such organisations keep the rights of children central in their work. He...

In what way are you pressing your luck? When I visit my gram I always hope she invites me for dinner. Most of the time she does. When did you last wield an iron? You mean Iron clothes? I almost never do, so I won't know what was the last time. I try to buy non-iron clothes. Not counting buttons on your computer, tablet, or phone, what was the result the last time you pressed a button? This afternoon when I made photocopies. What was the name...

1) What's something that seems to fascinate everyone else, but you just don't care about? George Clooney is in the country. People are all oh and ah's. I don't know the guy. Maybe he's nice, maybe he isn't. I'm not part of his world and it's best he stays out of mine, I think. 2) The lyrics refer to "the times we cried and laughed." Which did you do more recently, cry or laugh? Laugh. I was so happy the working week was over. 3) In the song,...

How would you describe your sense of direction? It's rather good. Most of the time I can find whatever I want to find without a car-thingy. Whose sense of humor is most like yours? My niece's. The whole family can sit listening to us at a birthday and we won't stop. Like stand up comedians. What film’s or novel’s sense of place really impressed you? Some of those action movies have car pursuits. I always wonder how they know what they are doing...

Monday, good morning dear bloggers. Laane asked: Have you ever been kept hostage by a virus? Yes. About 10 years ago we were ready for a vacation of 14 days. My parents had booked bus and hotel, trips at the foreign location and a friend who had to water our plants and keep a watch on the house. I was not very happy with the trip, but I adjusted my opinion and agreed to go with them. The day before I got a nasty fever. Within a few hours...
It meant a lot of preparing to have a secret shopping trip with the children of a friend. They're celebrating their anniversary soon and I wanted to create a real surprise. So first we talked to the children and asked if they would be willing to create a huge surprise for the anniversary and if they were able to keep it a secret. Then we had to find a way to have the children, so I could take them shopping. Another friend helped out. She's celebrating...

1) In this song, Glenn explores one of the great romantic conundrums. This week, Saturday 9 is confronting it, too. If you had to choose, would you prefer to be loved, or to be in love? I think one without the other is  a lonely experience. To be loved and not to love back gives a very uneasy feeling. Being in love without being loved back, even without the other knowing, is a bit better, because there's no need to hurt another person. So...
This evening I was talking with a friend about eating. One of those conversations that have no end and either explode into a very strong and loud discussion or fade away into a quiet being together. What sparked a good lough was the news that the producers of the largest ice creams have plans to make them smaller. Smaller...into 250 calories. To provide people a more healthy choice. Haha!! I can advice you how to make a healthy choice with the...

When opposing forces in your life pull you in different directions, how do you recenter yourself and find balance ? Sometimes it's a struggle not to let the emotions win. I have set myself a couple of goals and they help me finding the path I want to walk. Maybe I make a clear choice, or maybe I walk the middle way. That depends. When I've made a choice I feel relieved. What are often the greatest threats to your overall balance? Bad moods...

I completely lost track of the days of the week. Thought it was Wednesday today,  but it's already time for the Thursday Challenge. So I went through the photos on my computer. No chair, cups, or other everyday things clearly photographed. I always tried to escape from them, and I succeeded. Except when I was at the beach last summer. We stood in front of my favorite place downstairs. The woman keeps a little shop and...

The day in the media opened with a report published by firefighters to make people more aware of the dangers of house-fires in houses of the elderly. They predict a 62% increase of dying from a house fire in the elderly by...eh..2020 or 2030. (Sorry I can't remember). More old people live alone than decades before. This is due to cutbacks in the subsidies for old peoples homes. Last year many of them were closed and the people had to move into...

Monday, good morning dear bloggers. The question of today is: Would you help the medical profession to find a cure for something by volunteering in medical substance research? Laane explained at her blog the different stages of medical substance research. So when research is at the stage of trying potential medication on humans it's supposed to be relatively safe. When people volunteer they get a good explanation about the dangers of the medication,...

1) In this song, David encourages his partner to "put on your red shoes and dance." When did you last dance? Last week, at a party to celebrate the engagement of friends. 2) Mr. Bowie recalled that he and choreographer Toni Basil developed a dance step now known as "the moonwalk" for his 1974 tour, nearly a decade before Michael Jackson performed "Billie Jean." Can you think of something you should have gotten credit for, but didn't? Yes, it...

When in April a series of horrible earthquakes shook Nepal and a large area around Katmandu more than 8.000 people died, and more than 21.000 people got injured. The damage was tremendous, ranging from minor damage to houses, to complete demolition of houses and large buildings, like tempels. In the mountains villages couldn't be reached, which meant that food and medical help couldn't get to the people who needed it and many had to live without any shelter. Ofcourse I'd seen the TV programs and countless photo's of friends who live in the area. Today...
When did you last wear a lei (or something similar)? A lei is a flower-necklace that is used in Hawaii etc to welcome you, isn't it? I've never had one. What are your thoughts on organically grown produce? I'm still struggling with my first meeting with organic vegetables. The worms in and on them and fly eggs on them...ugh. Now I think all is organically grown, because it's all nature, isn't it? It's what we do with it. So one should say: produce...

Almost three years ago, at february 17 2012 our Prince Friso was caught in an avalanche while skying outside the piste. He needed a long time of resuscitation before he got in a kind of stable situation of unconsciousness. One and a half year later, without ever regaining consciousness, he died. Today a group of schoolchildren and a teacher ignored the black label (signalling the most difficult level of skying should be expected) of a piste in the...

Hi! I'm kind of silenced. My blog disappeared and I don't know why. I can only guess why they called me a spammer. I only visited a friend and a few blogmeme-sites, because I love blogmemes. One I used a few years ago still exists and the owner was late with posting, so I visited quite a few times. And I wrote a few posts, of which just a few were really meaningful, like a blog about the mob attacks in Cologne and one about a friend who...

Monday, good morning fellow bloggers. David Bowie is the subject of today's meme. He died two days after he gave the world a new album, with some macabre video's. He was on a bed, wrapped up like a messy mummy. Cloth around his face...loose... with iron pinned circles, so he still had a very small look at the world, which seemed to be rather dark. Maybe the symbol for the diminished and limited world of a dying person. He knew he was dying. His...

1. Think back to Friday. Did it fly by? Or did you find yourself checking the clock and wishing it was 5:00? Time always flies when I have to work. And now there's so much in the news that worries me it also flies when I'm at home. 2. This song refers to the 5:00 whistle that signifies the end of the work day. What's the last whistle, alarm or buzzer you heard? Someone at my work yesterday had a kind of buzzer at his phone. 3. In the...

What’s something you make that takes a really long time to cook? Bread. I love to bake bread and put something extra in it, like an egg, or cheese and ham or a bar of chocolate. Of books you’ve completed, which took you the most time to get from beginning to end? The Hobbit. One way or another it took me ages. Maybe because everyone was reading it and I wasn't called everyone. What’s a movie that seemed much longer than it was? I don't...
Today was a rather busy day. Work took most of the time and energy and when I was trying to get some chores done at home a friend visited. That was great! Not only could I sit down without feelings of guilt that I was not cleaning and doing the laundry, it also meant a good conversation and..... some nice chocolate to eat. I never had those. I imagined there were those little bubbly balls inside that cause a strange sensation in your mouth, but...

More than a million kilo's of salt were used to make some roads in the country accessible for traffic. Ice rains were so bad that no busses and no trains could ride. Schools, courts and many factories were closed. Kids had a lot of fun and even grown ups took their skates and went skating on the roads. At the moment it's freezing in the north of the country. Some ice skating contests are planned and one of the ice skate rings, the one in Noordlaren...

When it was still the end of autumn we were promised a very harsh winter. "We can see it at the insects", some people said. Well, I wanted to believe it, but all we saw were above zero temperatures, grey skies, a bit of rain, and little flowers everywhere. Nature got nuts. No cold nights meant that trees started to blossom. A farmer nearby had a second harvest, which had never happened before, but he sowed a second time, was ridiculed because of...
Found a new meme and I like it. Monday Good Morning! This year I was trying to find a nice bird to put on a christmas present for a friend. Those I found were beautiful, but far too expensive. We walked through a very large garden... shop is too small, hall is not appropriate. But it was la-a-a-arge. When we ended the last part I was very tired, and found a blue bird. Nice... not special...nice. And then at christmas we forgot the present. Imagine!...
I love my job. Working at a practice for psychology I work mainly with children and their parents. It's a privilege to get a glimpse in their lives, to receive their trust and to be able to help them to make a little step in their lives. Sometimes they could have done this step themselves, maybe later, or maybe with a different person, but sometimes the trust makes them tell me things no one else will ever hear and this will enable them to move on. The...
