1) The very popular tagline for this movie is, "Love means never having to say you're sorry." Here's your chance to rewrite it. "Love means _____________________."

Love means saying sorry even when you think you did nothing wrong.

2) The movie was famous for a montage of the lovers frolicking in the snow. Do you enjoy sledding, skating, skiing, snowball fights, snowmen, etc.? Or do you just want spring to hurry up and get here?

I love winterfun. The snow-things.
But snow is rather rare here.
Most of the winter is grey and I don't like those depressive days that you have to close the curtains at 15.00 hours already.
Give me flowers, give me spring. Give me sun!

3) In the movie, Oliver asks his father for $5,000. The money is required for wife Jenny's hospital treatment, but Oliver is too proud to tell his father why he needs it. Adjusted for inflation, $5,000 in 1970 is $30,000 today. How much would you be willing to lend a friend or family member without knowing the reason?

I don't have 30.000, but in the past I've given all my savings to family members to enable them to buy their house before the bank agreed with the loan and the house would be gone. Most of the family helped and we all got our money back when the bank gave the loan.

4) In the movie, Jenny is the daughter of a baker who owns a little shop in Cranston, Rhode Island. Think of the last baked goods you consumed. Were they home made? Did you buy them from a bakery, the grocery store, or a coffee shop, like Starbucks?

The last breadrolls I got from a friend. From the bakery, I assume.

5) In 1970, when the movie was first released, California's First Lady Nancy Reagan said she liked it but was upset to hear Ali MacGraw's character swear. What's the curse word you use most often? (Feel free to spell it with *'s, in case Nancy Reagan stops by Sat. 9)

I don't curse, just use meaningless words.

6) Now 75, Ali MacGraw has let her famous hair go gray. She says she's glad to "look like a grown up." Do you feel your age? Or older or younger than your years?

I think I'm the same age as I am.

7) MacGraw and her Love Story co-star Ryan O'Neal are currently on tour in the play, Love Letters, and they're drawing big crowds of fans who remember them in their famous film. Tell us of another movie couple you felt had romantic chemistry.

Don't know...

8) Red is the signature color of Valentine's Day. Are you wearing red right now?

Yes, a red sjawl.

9) Because Valentine's Day is such a big day for chocolate ... would you prefer a large, solid milk chocolate heart or a small box of four assorted chocolates?

When it means not everybody pays attention and I can eat it without sharing: the small box.
OK, I'll share with you....want one?

No way I could keep up with all the expectations of others.
There were so many appointments in my work agenda and in my private agenda, that I knew on monday that I couldn't do what needed to be done.

Take for instance the mistake of the new secretary, who planned an appointment from 10 to 11 at one location and from 11 to 12 at another location, meaning: at the other side of town. That usually takes about half an hour to go from one location to the other, so it's only logic to think it can't be done in one or two minutes.

Then an aunt suddenly expected me to be at coffee time at her birthday.
We planned a visit months ago ... in the evening. Which wouldn't have been a problem, if not a friend decided to invite her for an evening out. So I had to make other arrangements, but my agenda at work was full of appointments with people who have a life too and who need to be somewhere else too, or who took a morning off to come to the practice.

I found myself forgetting a dentist appointment which turned out not to be a real problem after all, but it took time to take the call and explain the problem.
I forgot to buy a present for a friend, forgot this, forgot that, and even forgot to eat a couple of times.

I don't think the clients had a clue about my problems, except the one who was planned at monday from 11 to 12. He was phoned by the secretary to change his appointment.
My mom didn't mind I skipped a visit, my friends cooked for me instead of I for them, I skipped sport, I forgot to mail some people, etc etc.

So my boss talked with the new secretary not to plan too many hours without consulting me, and to find out which hours are my working hours, and I've put my private agenda online so she can have a look if work-appointments don't interfere with my private plans.

All I want to do now is take a bath and stay in there all night.
I won't.
I have top attend a birthday.

Bye!

Monday, good morning dear bloggers.

Laane asked:

Did you ever take part in Carnival?

Yes.

I like Carnaval, as we call it here.
My parents took me to see the parade every year. They dressed me up, like their other kids and took photos.
At school Carnaval was celebrated each year at friday afternoon. It was fun to dance and jump, and sing for the prince.

When I was 10 I was trained to dance in official dress at the carnaval festivities for the grown ups.
I did it about 8 years.

When I went to university I stopped and didn't even go home for carnaval, because I went to the south of the country with friends.
We went to the parade there and then went to a big tent in the center of the city to dance.

It was very nice.

I've been asked to become a member of the organisation of carnaval in my birth town last year, but I turned it down.
This year I stayed at home and I enjoyed that too.

1) This song is a plea for a second chance. Are you good at forgiving/forgetting?

I try, because I'm not without fault. But it's more difficult to forget than to forgive.

2) Justin asks his girl to "forget this." What have you done/said recently that you wish could just be forgotten?

Something unimportant. I was asked to come and celebrate Carnaval and I declined. Right now I wish a bit that I had gone with them to have a party....

3) Mr. Bieber says he needs just 6 hours sleep every night. How about you? How much sleep do you require to feel sharp?

About 8

4) Justin prefers D&G underwear, which can cost as much as $102/pair. Sam may be crazy, but there's no way she'd spend that much on underwear. What's something you're willing to splurge on?

A good wintercoat. I have to bicycle a lot and when it's a cold winter I need a good one.

5) He may be picky about underwear but not cuisine. He loves Big Macs. If we were going to McDonald's, what would you order?

I almost never go there, so I don't even know what's on the menu.
Do they have chicken nuggets?

6) When it comes to healthier fare, Bieber has told fans he enjoys snacking on bananas and grapes. What do you reach for between meals?

Cheese

7) Performing in Germany, Justin Bieber told a girl who approached the stage, "Ich liebe dich” ("I love you") and she fainted. Have you ever fainted?

No.

8) As a kid, Justin was teased for being one of the shortest in his class. What do you recall being teased about in school?

Oh yes. And I didn't like it.
I dressed as I liked and I loved making things myself. I was teased, but it changed into admiration when these kids got older.

9) Random question: Will you be watching this weekend's Super Bowl?

No.
Not even for money.

Here in The Netherlands we've got a person who deals with complaints about actions of the government and the governmental organisations that can't be solved by those organisations. He's called the ombudsman.
Ofcourse he's assisted by a large group of people.

A special person within this organisation is the man who deals with all facets to do with children.
He's called the Kinderombudsman.
He controls if the governmental organisations, education, childcare, healthcare and such organisations keep the rights of children central in their work.
He also advises children and young people how to use their rights.
he also created awareness.
He's kind of independent.
The present one is doing great.

People feel free to bring issues to his attention and he's doing his research very thorough.
Whenever research is finished he draws sharp conclusions and doesn't refrain from telling the truth, even when organisations don't like to hear the truth.
He's the one who said that children's rights are not well kept in our country.
He has pointed out that refugee-children have the same rights as all other children, whether they have arrived in our country with their parents or without.

In the beginning I thought that this man was more of a businessman than someone who would stand up for the rights of children. But he has done so much so very well and with so much spirit.. I admire him for being not only a father, but also a father for many children.

Then the new ombudsman was appointed.
He is a man who studied law and worked in the legal field at high positions. A no-nonsense guy. He looks like he gets what he wants.
And he decided not to appoint the kinderombudsman again.

But the people want the kinderombudsman to stay and work a second stretch of time.
A petition was signed more than 32.000 times and still people are asking for the link. Here it is.

I think that trust from the people is not something to throw away.

I wonder why this new ombudsman wants to create his own team.
Doesn't he want to use the experience and expertise of the people who work there now?
Or does he rather want a dictatorship, the self-created opportunity to manipulate people and to make them do what he wants and to make them speak the language he wants?
Does he have problems socializing, working with people on a day to day basis?

He's not even there a year and he's going against the wishes of a lot of children and parents by pushing away the person who is trusted most.

I think he'd better leave.
Oh yes, he has earned the right to do what he wants and throw out the kinderombudsman. He's his boss.
But the way he dealt with the media and with people has coloured his image.
He was impolite, unfriendly and didn't even realize he didn't want to talk with the reporter of the children's TV news. He just didn't bother to turn around and say: "there is no reason to worry about children's rights, because we keep them close to our hearts."
No, he jumped in a car and drove off.

He took with him all the faith I had in the care that man is supposed to have for the rights of other people.

  1. In what way are you pressing your luck?
When I visit my gram I always hope she invites me for dinner. Most of the time she does.
  2. When did you last wield an iron?

    You mean Iron clothes?
I almost never do, so I won't know what was the last time.
I try to buy non-iron clothes.
  3. Not counting buttons on your computer, tablet, or phone, what was the result the last time you pressed a button?
This afternoon when I made photocopies.
  4. What was the name of your high school newspaper?
    We didn't have one.
  5. To “press the flesh” means (usually in the context of politics or public relations) to meet and greet as many people as you can, shaking hands and making personal contact. When were you last called upon to press the flesh, and how were you?

When an uncle died and my aunt asked me to stand beside her. I did, because she looked so sad all alone. But then people thought I was her daughter. She doesn't have a daughter. So it was a bit awkward.
